Choose a yachtWe begin in Horta, the legendary Atlantic harbour whose marina walls are painted by crews from around the world. In the evening, the whole flotilla gathers for the opening event to meet the crews and discuss the route. We will walk along the waterfront, visit Peter’s Cafe Sport and climb Monte da Guia for our first views of Faial and Pico
Our first passage takes us to Madalena on Pico Island. Black lava shores, UNESCO-listed vineyards and the trip’s main hike — the climb to Pico’s summit — await us. On a more relaxed day, we will leave time for a tasting and natural pools
We head to São Jorge for its green fajãs and famous cheeses. After mooring in Velas, we will hike to Fajã de Santo Cristo or visit the natural pools at Fajã do Ouvidor, then taste the island’s aged cheese in the evening
After a long ocean passage, we arrive in Angra, one of the archipelago’s most beautiful towns. We will explore its UNESCO-listed streets, climb Monte Brasil and enjoy a lively island evening
After setting off from Terceira in the morning, we make an ocean passage to Pico’s southern coast. This is one of the route’s main sailing days: several hours on open water, working with the wind and standing a true Atlantic watch. The passage takes us to Lajes do Pico — a historic whaling harbour and the base for the most eventful day of the trip
We spend a full day in Lajes do Pico. In the morning, we head out to sea to watch whales; after lunch, we visit wineries and discover wines grown in volcanic soil
Our final passage brings us back to Horta. We will walk along the rim of Caldeira do Faial, leave our crew’s painting on the marina wall and gather for a farewell dinner overlooking Pico
On the morning of 12 June, we return the yachts. The plan and schedule may change due to weather and sea conditions

No experience is required for a North place: a professional WeSail skipper sails the yacht, and you can take part in handling it if you wish. If you book a whole yacht, your team must include a skipper whose licence and experience are accepted by the charter company
Yes. You can book a North place alone or as a pair — we will assemble the crew and introduce everyone before the trip
Yes. You choose a yacht for your team and join the shared flotilla. A member of your team may skipper the yacht if the charter company approves their qualifications
The flotilla route adapts to the forecast. The safety and comfort of each passage take priority over any preselected stop
We will explain how to prepare in advance. The Atlantic can be rough, so seasickness cannot be completely ruled out
Yes, you may spot whales during a passage, especially in early June. This is a natural event, so sightings cannot be guaranteed
The Azores are part of Portugal, so a valid Schengen visa is suitable. If you are applying for a new visa specifically for this trip, you should apply through the consulate of your main destination — Portugal for this Azores itinerary
The trip starts at Horta Marina on Faial Island. After booking, we will send flight and transfer options
